This season's most talked about actress Ruth Negga made a splash in a metallic sequin dress by Louis Vuitton, opting to walk the red carpet without her long-term boyfriend Dominic Cooper and instead attended with co-star and fellow nominee Joel Edgerton.
The Irish-Ethiopian actress was nominated in the Best Actress in a Drama category for Loving and is hotly tipped to land an Oscar nomination for the portrayal.

For the second year running, Monaghan native Caitriona Balfe was nominated for the Best Actress in a TV series (Drama) for her role as a time travelling nurse Claire Beecham in Outlander, a cult hit.
And the supermodel turned tv star didn't forget her fashion roots in a delicate peplum navy and orange Delpozo dress. Although she was a winner in the style stakes, she lost out to Claire Foy for The Crown, which was a surprising hit at last night's ceremony.
Actor Colin Farrell, who brought his mother Rita as his date, and opted for a classic black tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana - which is no great surprise given his previous campaigns for the Italian fashion house.
The Dubliner was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, but lost out to Ryan Gosling for La La Land, which swept the boards.

The Golden Globes marks the official start of awards season and there will be plenty more homegrown talent on show over the coming weeks.
