This year's Peter Mark VIP Style Awards has been postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual Style Awards has been running for nearly 20 years and was due to take place at The Marker Hotel on April 24, but organisers have rescheduled the event amid Government directives of social distancing.

A number of stores and events have been closed and cancelled in Ireland and around the world, in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

A spokesperson for the awards ceremony, which celebrates the most stylish people in Ireland and is one of the most coveted events on the social calendar, released a statement confirming it won't be going ahead as scheduled.

"This decision has been made following discussions with Peter Mark and all our sponsors, and is clearly the best course of action in the current circumstances," the statement read.

"The event will now be held at a later date this year, which will be announced in due course."

A launch event was held earlier this month honouring nominees and announcing new categories, including one for sustainable fashion.

Voting for the event, which features six categories including Most Stylish Man and Woman, remains open.
