It costs $40k for an actress to get ready for the Golden Globes red carpet (before the freebies)
It costs the average actress a whopping $40,000 to get red carpet ready for the Golden Globes.
One of Hollywood's best known stylists dished to the New York Post about just what it takes to look picture perfect during awards season and it doesn't' come cheap.
Stylist Micaela Erlanger, who charges approximately $1,500 per day for nominees, said it takes "weeks" of preparation in order to finalise the right look on the night. This brings the figure to an average of $10,000 for one client.
"From talking to designers if you’re doing something custom to getting the samples in and, of course, fittings — it’s crazy," she explained.

In addition the stylist's rate, dresses from couture houses are flown in with a tailor from Paris or Milan, costing additional money for flights and accommodation for the tailor. The dress itself may come at no cost in exchange for publicity, but nothing really comes for free.
Once the dress has been decided, the overall look will be constructed between an actress' glam squad. Hair can take anywhere from two to five hours on the day, with hair stylists charging an average of $2,000 per day.
Makeup might take the least amount of time (an hour), but it costs an average of $5,000. With day rates of $1,500 and compulsory trial runs (yes, plural) before, the zeros rack up pretty quickly.
Jeweller also comes free of charge in exchange for publicity, but when someone is wearing hundreds of thousands worth of jewels, private security is required, private companies charge $20,000 to keep the likes of Tiffany & Co and Lorraine Schwartz in safe hands.
