An Irish designer was left gobsmacked after learning a music legend had wore two of her creations to Sunday's Academy Awards.
Dublin fashion designer Claire Garvey said she couldn't believe it when she found out disco musician Nile Rodgers donned two jackets she had designed to the Oscars - one on the red carpet, and one during his performance with Elton John.
Claire admitted she couldn't bring herself to watch the ceremony because she thought it would "jinx" her.
"I didn't actually watch the ceremony myself because I didn't want to jinx things - maybe if I was sitting watching it he could've been wearing something else," she told the Herald.
"I just thought I'd leave it to chance and see what would happen."
The designer, who is famous for her dramatic pieces, has worked with the musician and his band Chic numerous times since 2013.
"Some friends of mine sent Nile and Chic some pictures of my work and then two girls from Chic arrived in my shop in Cow's Lane in Temple Bar," she said. "We did stuff for them for a gig and when Nile saw the designs he asked me a few days later if I could do something for him for the X Factor.
"Next thing I knew I was over at the X Factor with them - I had two days to design a jacket for him, it was fairly manic."
"Since then I've done other stuff for him, and he commissioned two more jackets recently," she added.
"I was hoping he might wear one of them to the Oscars but I wasn't expecting two of them."
"It's funny, I didn't know that much about them until my friends bought me a ticket to their show in Vicar Street about two years ago."
While dressing the legendary musician was her first attempt at designing men's clothes, Claire said it won't be her last.
"I'd never done menswear before so he took a big chance on me really. Also, he has Louis Vuitton and Karl Lagerfeld giving him stuff so to pick a small Irish designer is pretty impressive," she said.
"He let me do whatever I wanted, there was no diva requests or anything. He paid me and everything.
"I'll have to do more menswear now - he performed with Elton John so you never know."
