Your party mojo will be back and you'll need a new look
It's that time of the year again . . . after spending a cosy couple of months cuddled up with your favourite box set, it's almost impossible to imagine that you'd actually want to get yourself all dressed up to hit the town. But you will . . . and once you get your party mojo going, you might just want to change your look. And here's where the latest launch of collections come in. Normally, these can be a bit wasteful, several items remaining untouched and unloved while others are used mercilessly. But not with these sexy and stylish ones. Check them out for all the inspiration you need.
NARS Guy Bourdin Collection One Night Stand Cheek Palette, €55
Inspired by the work of the legendary fashion photographer, Guy Bourdin, this features the universally flattering golden pink Orgasm shade, as well as five others running the colour spectrum from the olive-tone Laguna bronzer to the light oyster Devotee highlighter. It's for those of us with light-to-medium complexions who want to sculpt and brighten our contours with a flattering flush. Limited edition.
Benefit Groovy-Kind-a love!, €39.50
It's my go-to product whenever the lights go down. But no matter how carefully I try to apply 'They're Real!' mascara, I can never escape a clump or two. Yet that doesn't stop me going back to it, time and again. The effect on my lashes is worth it. So I'm definitely a fan of this make-up kit, which features mini versions of the Porefessional primer, 'They're Real!' mascara and Benetint rose-tinted stain as well as a cheek powder duo and a four-shade eyeshadow palette.
Dr. Hauschka Rose Dreams Gift Set, €44.95:
There's only so much partying a girl can do before she starts to feel a bit, well, jaded. So step off the Christmas treadmill, give yourself a night off and spend a bit of time smelling the roses. That's where this pampering pack comes in. It includes brand's Rose Nurturing Body Wash, Rose Body Oil, Rose Nurturing Bath Essence and limited-edition hand-made Rose Soap.
Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood Eye Palette, €67.50
No-one did glamour better than Hollywood's movie goddesses, and Bobbi Brown pays homage to them with this gorgeous eye palette. It features a mix of warm and cool hues, with both glitter and matte finishes -- so don't worry, Bobbi hasn't abandoned her characteristically demure approach entirely.
My favourite is definitely Candlelight Gold Metallic, a lovely warm shade with just enough golden sparkle to make it interesting. Accessorise with the collection's lip colour in siren red (€24) and deepest darkest black eyeliner for the ultimate retro look.
THIS WEEK. . .
This week, I'm writing my final Christmas list and, be warned Santa, I'm going to indulge myself. My first wish is for a little something from Chanel, of course. The buzz around fragranced hair mists is definitely developing into a trend and the Chanel No 5 version (€45 for 40ml) with its unmistakable mix of May rose and jasmine is one of the nicest around. Wearable and light, yet still musky, I find that it works best if you walk through the scent rather than spraying it directly on your locks.
I'd also like a Clarisonic Cleansing brush, which is the ultimate exfoliating tool to leave your complexion glowing. The bristles of this electronic brush may be velvety soft but they are undeniable efficient. The limited-edition Carnival Plus version is particularly pretty (exclusively from BT stores, €229).
And imagine just how radiant I'll be if I also find Crème de la Mer's Moisturizing Soft Cream Collection (€260 -- it includes a travel-sized 15ml version as well as the standard size in my stocking?! The latest formulation is lightweight, yet nourishing, and is packed with the brand's miracle broth, leaving skin super-smooth and providing a great base for make-up.
And finally, who could resist Tom Ford's Private Blend Lip Colour in Cherry Lush (€46) which is oh-so-flattering against my pale skin?
