You won't be singing the blues alone wearing these...
It's being hailed as the new black – that might be an accolade too far – but there's no doubt that blue is having a moment right now.
Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Intense Midnight, €17.50
Very pigmented for a dramatic inky colour with a hint of sparkle. It goes on easily (no dreaded dragging) with a creamy texture that doesn't flake and a twist-up mechanism which means no faffing around with pencil sharpeners. Apply to upper and lower lash lines and smudge for a smoky finish. Despite the name, this can be worn during the day! Great value too.
Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Navy: €34
This deep navy mascara offers a subtle take on coloured lashes, flatters all eye shades and brightens the whites. The soft, non-sticky formula is accompanied with a fantastic brush that lifts and separates each and every lash for a great wide-eyed look that manages, somehow, to appear natural. Good staying power too. Expensive, but sometimes it's worth splashing out.
Essie Hide and Go Chic, €9.99
This chic and beautiful nail polish is very rich and goes opaque after a single coat. The high-quality, long-wearing and non-streaky formula quickly dries to a smooth and glossy finish. Highly recommended.
Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Palette Five, €58.50
G stands for glamour. For a fabulous alternative to the usual smoky eye, check out this. The palette includes four deep shades, all of which are beautiful, wearable and boast a subtle pigment with a satin, pearly finish.
If you only do one thing this week ... take a few minutes and practise your body-brushing skills. Your soon-to-be firmer and smoother legs will thank you for it, because at some stage very soon, they will be released from the tyranny of opaque tights and revealed to the world. Always work upwards towards your heart in long sweeping strokes.
If you only buy one thing this week, make it Clarins Eye Revive Beauty Flash, €32.50. This rich cream is just what you need to refresh tired eyes. While I'm not sure that it improved the pesky dark circles that seem to be a permanent feature these days (perhaps the only really effective treatment for those would be a week in the Bahamas), it did reduce puffiness and left the delicate skin in that area feeling well-hydrated.
"For perfectly defined brows, be sure to use two shades of pencil: the first should be slightly lighter than your own brow, and used all over. The second should be slightly warmer, applied in a fine line under the brow, all the way along," says Fred Letailleur of Yves Saint Laurent.
