Timeline: Kate Moss's life in fashion

As Kate Moss hints she might open a modelling school, we cast our eyes back on the highs and lows of the supermodel's career.

In a career spanning 25 years, supermodel Kate Moss has certainly had her fashion moments.

1988 : discovered by Sarah Doukas of Storm Model Management at JFK Airport on her way back from a holiday in Bahamas, when she was just 14 years old.

1990 : shot by Corinne Day for The Face in a cover shoot styled by Melanie Ward, named 'The 3rd Summer of Love'.

1992 : created the 'waif' look after featuring in Calvin Klein campaigns with Mark Wahlberg, pioneering 'heroin chic'.

1994 : her first appearance in the Pirelli Calendar.

1995 : won 'Fashion Personality of the Year' award.

1996 : won Vogue/VH1 'Model of the Year' award.

2002 : Lucien Freud finished a portrait of a pregnant Kate Moss, named 'Naked Portrait 2002' which was sold to a collector for £3.5 million in 2005.

2002 : gave birth to her and then-boyfriend, Dazed and Confused editor, Jefferson Hack's daughter Lila Grace on 20th September.

2003 : starred in The White Stripes 'I just don't know what to do with myself' music video (pole-dancing) which was directed by Sophia Coppola.

2005 : launched as the face of Rimmel London and appeared in TV and magazine advertising campaigns.

2005 : the 'cocaine scandal' launched as her picture appeared on the front page of the Daily Mirror allegedly snorting the drug, prompting her to be dropped from various campaigns, including that of her friend Stella McCartney's range for H&M, along with Chanel and Burberry.


2006 : appeared in the Pirelli Calender once again.

2006 : won the 'Model of the Year' award at the British Fashion Awards.

2007 : launched her first collection for Topshop on 1st May.

2008 : Marc Quinn made a £1.5million hollow gold statue of Kate called 'Siren' which was exhibited at the British Museum

2010 : Mario Testino launched a photographic exhibition called 'Kate Who?' at the Phillips de Pury gallery in Mayfair, consisting entirely of photos of Kate.

2010 : released her final Topshop collection in November.

2011 : Moss was made ambassador and the face of the Spanish fashion retailer Mango in the autumn. She held onto her position until their Spring/Summer 2013 campaign when Miranda Kerr replaced Moss.

2013 : Moss poses nude for the 60th anniversary issue of Playboy magazine, out in December.

2013 : Moss received the Special Recognition award in December at the 201 British Fashion Awards acknowledging her contribution to the fashion industry.
