Bairbre Power in New York

It was a case of supermodel meets supermarket as Heidi Klum launched her clothing collection for Lidl at New York Fashion Week.

The reveal of the Esmara by Heidi Klum collection was synced between a Manhattan catwalk show and a photocall on the streets of Dublin, where model Thalia Heffernan wore some of its 'hero' pieces, including a 100pc suede biker jacket which comes in both brown and also in black.

Costing €59.99, the jacket is set to be the target for many keen shoppers when the 20-piece clothing and footwear collection goes on sale at 8am on Monday, September 18.

Prices start at €5.99 for a camisole, and the collection includes a designer-look suede body bag with gold chain tassel (€22.99) and the sharp shouldered, narrow lapel sequinned tux jacket (€19.99) Heidi wore when judging the TV show 'America's Next Top Talent'.

The 44-year old mother-of-four included lots of cross-generational pieces in this, her first collection for the German discount supermarket.

There's a €19.99 blue grey poncho, stretch jeans (€12.99) and a medium heeled leather leopard court shoe with toe tips in cobalt blue.

Yes, Heidi is very big on her leopard print and it crops up in capsule wardrobe separates including a blazer (€19.99) and trousers (€12.99) which look sleek and stylish worn together.

The high street has seen lots of high profile celebrity collaborations and for this venture, the discount chain is opening a 'pop up preview' store on Dublin's Grafton Street from September 14-17, so potential customers can touch and feel the clothes.
