Vogue hails Princess Anne's 'Instagirl' style thanks to these questionable sunglasses
"What a ray of light," concludes British Vogue's piece on Princess Anne and their appreciation for her sunglasses style.
The 67-year-old royal, who is Queen Elizabeth's second eldest child, was one of the guests of honour at the Chelsea Flower Show, alongside her mother and a handful of other senior royals, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
While the British royal family's penchant for colourful displays of fashion are well documented, it was Anne's choice of sunwear - a pair of rather questionable adidas sunglasses - that not only got the Vogue seal of approval, but rivalled her against Instagram's #OOTD influencer culture.
"The frameless aerodynamic sunnies, which boasted mahogany red polarized lenses and are more often worn by UV-conscious athletes than an event-hopping royal, added just the right amount of contrast to the princess’s otherwise very prim look," the piece reads, adding that her style choice "seems a bit unorthodox".
But it seems that she is already one season ahead and we'll be seeing more of these next summer when the on-trend tiny sunglasses so beloved by Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner finally move to the bin where they belong.
