UTV Ireland’s new recruit Jenny Buckley said she will opt for a classic and tailored wardrobe as she begins her position at the newly formed station.

The mother-of-one will be appearing on screens from next week onwards, alongside news anchors Chris Donoghue and Alison Comyn.

The former entertainment presenter at Channel 6 (now 3e) has said she is delighted with the “security of a Monday to Friday job”.

“It was a while coming and although I’ve always knocked on every door and been very lucky work wise, having experienced full-time freelance makes me so much more appreciative of this,” she told the Irish Daily Mail.

“You reach a stage where you can be comfortable and content in one place. Naturally I’m absolutely delighted, on such a high and really blessed to get the job,” she added.

The Dubliner will host the weather after the news and current affairs shows — Ireland Live, and Ireland Live At 10 five nights a week.

Upon finding out about her appointment two months ago, the Howth based presenter immediately turned her attention to her on-screen wardrobe.

She has previously described her style as eclectic, elegant and modern and cites Charlize Theron as her style icon.

The former guest mentor on Celebrity Apprentice added, “It’s hard with a green screen to wear what you want as well, so you need to get the wardrobe to basic block colours.”

“There’s a lot you can’t wear, so I’ll be going for a tailored look - I’ll be holding back on the wacky,” she said.

The 35-year-old revealed that a local boutique will help get her on her feet by providing outfits for the first few weeks.

“A store in Howth has kindly said they’ll dress me for the next while which takes some of the pressure off,” she said.

The hard working mum confirmed that there will be no rivalry in the style stakes between prominent RTÉ weather woman Jean Byrne, known for her avant garde fashion statements.

“It’s the nature of it I think that there’ll be comparisons with Jean but we’re very different people and I’ll bring a different style to it,” she confirmed.
