Karolína Kurková thinks Instagram helps accelerate models' careers.
Many in the industry, herself included, use social networking to promote campaigns and collaborations, with younger models such as Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse particularly involved.
The 30-year-old has many years' hard graft behind her and thinks things are a little easier now than when she first started out.
"I think [social media] is part of the job now and does accelerate many things," she told elle.de.
"When I started out, I had to work hard for 15 years to become successful. That kind of platform for self-promotion wasn't available back then. You had to convince each person individually and win them over.
"In most cases, it's like this: what happens quickly is also quick to disappear."
Luckily for Karolína, her hard work has paid off and she's still going strong in the industry. She juggles modelling with acting and raising four-year-old Tobin with her husband Archie Drury.
The pretty blonde doesn't even mind sacrificing her privacy for her career.
"The paparazzi don't actually bother me," she smiled. "I think it's flattering, even - as long as they are respectful. I can't hide my son, either. Thanks to smartphones and social media, everyone becomes a reporter. Of course I'd rather be asked first. And purposely taking bad pictures - that's disgusting."
