Rihanna takes the plunge in dramatic red gown at London premiere
Rihanna knows how to make a style statement.
The superstar singer (29) might only have a bit part n this summer's blockbuster Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, but she's been dominating the red carpet at every premiere.
On Monday night for the European premiere in London, she wore her go-to designer when she wants to make an entrance - Giambattista Valli - in a dramatic red gown with a seriously plunging neckline, the same designer she relied on for last year's Grammys when she went full marshmallow pink princess.
Earlier this month, Rihanna hit back at body-shamers who criticised her for gaining weight and as always, she seems largely unaffected by public perception of her. And her career is thriving as she focuses on transitioning from singing to acting in Valerian, which has received mixed reviews so far.
In the sci-fi flick, she plays a shape shifting alien, who, despite what the movie posters might indicate, has very little screen time and she spent one week filming in Paris.
Speaking of her character, who represents just one of the female heroes in the movie, she said: "I think of myself as a shape-shifter in terms of my music and my fashion, so I fell in love with her.
"It’s a visually thrilling film. I was blown away, I didn’t know what to expect. I enjoyed every moment of it."
A whirlwind of stunning effects, Valerian marks 20 years since Besson’s 1997 futuristic cult classic, The Fifth Element, starring Bruce Willis.
