Princess Charlene of Monaco shimmers in purple sequin gown with mustachioed husband Prince Albert
Princess Charlene of Monaco knows how to make a style statement.
The mother-of-two dazzled in a shimmering off-the-shoulder purple gown at the star-studded Princess Grace Awards gala in Los Angeles alongside her husband Prince Albert, who is sporting a new, rather questionable moustache, these days. The former Olympic swimmer became an overnight royal style icon when she wed the eternal bachelor in 2011 and without the shackles of conservatism imposed by the likes of the British royals, she can instead experiment with a more conspicuous extravagance with her wardrobe.
Last month, she was pictured sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week, a move only a royal based in Monte Carlo could pull. Last night's event was held to honour Albert's late mother, the movie star turned princess Grace Kelly, raising funds for the foundation established in her name which is "dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging talent in theater, dance, and film by awarding grants in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships."
Among the guests were Topshop bilionaire heiress Chloe Green and 'hot felon' Jeremy Meeks, her boyfriend of three months, as well as her mother Lady Tina Green. Their relationship has been plagued by controversy since pictures of them kissing aboard a multi-million euro yacht in July, namely because Meeks was still married at the time.
His estranged wife Melissa recently said it was "very very heartbreaking", adding he was "apologetic for how things came out [and] how hurt I was by it." Despite his convictions (he was previously imprisoned for grand theft of a person in 2002 and a recent sentencing for a firearm possession charge), Meeks has since cleaned up his act and is embracing fame as he was given a lucrative modelling contract after his mugshot went viral in 2014.
