There's something refreshing about never seeing Margot Robbie in a similarly look twice.
The 27-year-old is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood, earning critical acclaim and Oscar buzz for her turn as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, and like most popular actresses, she's also a fashion darling.
At Monday night's Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York, she wore an asymmetric shimmering dark green dress by Saint Laurent, sort of a modern day toga meets '80s prom dress look. The dress, overall, was a winner. And her decision to show off her natural skin tone, rather than indulge in a spray tan before hitting the red carpet is equally inspiring: it certainly helps that she is drop dead gorgeous, but us naturally fair girls will take a win where we can.
The overall look, however, was a little much. The makeup was flawless, in particular that burgundy lip, as was the hair, the dress, the chain box bag, the black strappy heels - all individually are on our wishlists, but together doesn't mesh well.
Another actress who is fast becoming the must-dress star of awards season is Carlow's own Saoirse Ronan, who celebrated her Best Actress win in a cream lace dress by Rodarte and breathtaking drop diamond earrings by Tiffany & Co. It marks a more delicate change from her edgier Gucci looks of late.
