Kate Middleton stuns in semi-sheer polka dot dress at Kensington Palace before jetting to India
She might have an immediately identifiable signature style, but Kate Middleton can still throw a curveball every now and then.
The Duchess of Cambridge, famed for her mid length dress coats and pleated skirts, opted for a daring new look at a reception in Kensington Palace before jetting to India on a royal trip.
She will fly to India and Bhutan with husband Prince William this weekend and the couple hosted guests from both regions in London on Wednesday night before their latest royal tour.
Kate's polka dot, floor length 'Mary Illusion' dress with semi-sheer panelling by Saloni retails for €600 and sold out instantly after she was pictured in it. The fun frock gave the first indication of what kind of looks we can expect to see during her latest international trip. The Daily Mail reports the 35-year-old royal will apparently be foregoing her trademark nude tights during the trip due to the 33 degree heat predicted.
The Duke and Duchess will be back in London in time for Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday celebrations on April 21, followed shortly by their daughter Princess Charlotte's first birthday on May 2.
During last night's reception, the royals mingled with guests such as Burberry model Neelam Gill, who previously dated Zayn Malik. "For my generation [William and Kate] have always seemed cool and approachable and I felt they were just that in person. It was really sweet seeing them as a couple," she told the paper.
"[Kate] told me that she loved Indian food so I told her that she'd be fine with the spices. But William told me that he struggles with the spices so I told him to watch out."
