From Dubarry days to the Red Carpet: Actress Aoibhín Garrihy talks personal style
Dubliner Aoibhín Garrihy is as well known for her feminine and classic sense of style as she is for her turn as Fair City’s Neasa Dillon.
She talks to us about her style highs and lows, and her fashion favourites.
Define your style:
I'm not a huge follower of trends but I like to wear what suits me. My style is pretty varied and does change depending on my mood and the occasion.
Generally I'm very casual and love my jeans, but I love an occasion to dress up as well and like to try different looks whether it's vintage, couture, boho or something a little edgier.
Where do you get your style inspiration?
I love Instagram and pinterest. It's my guilty pleasure every day and find them both a real feast for any fashion lovers eyes.
I follow designers/bloggers/celebs and I guess I get a lot of inspiration from there. I'm also a magazine junkie.
Whose style do you admire most?
It's such a cliché but Kate Moss is my ultimate style icon.
I just love everything about her look- she can do rock chic, boho and glamour queen all in the one day and nails it every time.
I'm also loving Rosie Huntington Whiteley at the moment. Total girl crush!
Where do you shop?
I shop all over. I love the high street and spend a lot of time in Zara and French Connection.
I love my quirky vintage boutiques too. My favourite is Om Diva on Drury Street. When I feel like a treat I love buying Irish and two of my favourite designers are Emma Manley and Sean Byrne.
What are you wardrobe essentials?
I think a great pair of jeans (I love Salsa), a killer pair of black stilettos and a quality leather jacket are all you need!
Who are your favourite designers (Irish or International)? As mentioned above my favourite has to be Emma Manley as she's amazingly talented, a joy to work with and her designs are so fun and youthful.
On an international scale it would have to be Stella McCartney. I just love everything she does and her recent designs for Nicola Peltz were a dream.
Favourite ever purchase?
My favourite ever has to be my black Louboutin stilettos. I love them so much. They were worth every penny as they now feel like gloves and I wear them literally everywhere. I've had them re-heeled several times and they are as good as new! They are probably my best investment and are the item in my wardrobe I get the most wear out of.
Worst style moment?
When I fell victim to the Dubarry deck shoes and O'Neill's tracksuit bottom trend! Dark days!
