10 reasons why 2014 is the year for recycled showbiz material
The showbiz world seems to have taken the 'all the good ideas are taken' adage quite seriously.
Sure it's been a year filled with shocking moments, jaw-dropping statements and physical transformations, but in so many ways, 2014 has become a year of recycled materials.
While entertaining nonetheless, 2014 has morphed into a 'Best of' montage of the '90s and noughties.
1. Paris and Nicky Hilton are out partying every night.
The evidence: This is Paris and Nicky in 2003 (left) and this is them in 2014 (right). They haven't even changed sides.
2. Brian McFadden is on top of the world again
After leaving Westife in 2004, it looked like Brian's career would never recover and he moved to Australia soon after. Now, he lives in Ireland again and seems to be hosting every new Irish and English tv show going.
3. We're STILL talking about a Sex and The City movie
Mr Big called Carrie Bradshaw a w**re (in real life) and cast members Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis are still spreading rumours about a Sex and the City movie.
4. Everyone is freaking out about Renee Zellweger
After returning to the red carpet this week, the Internet went nuts over Renee's face. Hollywood is like a hipster mocking her appearance - they've been taunting poor Renee since before it was cool. (Note: It's still not actually cool).
The evidence: Left to Right - 2001, 2008, 2013 and 2014.
5. We're seeing bikini photo calls again
Remember when Georgia Salpa was at the centre of controversy for her penchant for bikinis in promotional work?
Soon after, they disappeared as the official uniform of promotional models. Now, it's back. Model Karena Graham wore this to promote National Potato Day.
6. Everyone is posing in their Calvins
These roots date further back to 1992 when Kate Moss was a fresh face on the scene in 1992. Remember that Marky Mark ad?
Emily Ratajowksi and Gigi Hadid have taken turns posing in their Calvins this week.
7. Supermodels are in Vogue
US Vogue's September issue featured actual models on the cover and hailed 'The Instagirls' - a term presumably coined to lure in young readers under the premise they'd have Instagram access in its print edition.
Remember when these were the only faces on magazine covers?
8. Lip liner is all the rage
Pamela Anderson was the undisputed 90s queen of lip liner.
....and now reality tv teen queen Kylie Jenner has taken her crown.
9. Men are wearing bum bags
The trend we all wanted to see the back of has returned. In a big way.
The evidence: Matthew McConnaughey and Jared Leto, both Oscar winners and all round hunks, are determined to bring it back
10. Rachel Stevens is famous again
Former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens is back in the limelight thanks to her new role as a mentor on RTE's The Voice of Ireland.
In 2003, she was doing this.
