Pippa O'Connor at her 30th Birthday Party

Pippa O'Connor is fast becoming our fave Pippa.

The other Pippa - P-Middy - is actually a month younger than Beloved Pippa, and yet, seems hell-bent on dressing like some Sloaney mahogany matron.

Meanwhile, BP keeps her look pine-fresh with judicious tan application and a nice, not-too-done style. Here she is at her recent 30th birthday, looking positively teenage. She rocks a sexy tooth-gap better than Lara Stone or Georgia May any day. The tooth-gap also gives a pleasing bit of edge to her gorgeous girl-next-door appeal. We kinda think Pippa could be our bestie, an impression gleaned from our latest blog session on Pippa.ie.

On her blog, we get a tantalising insider view on the O'Connor-Ormond household, as well as beauty tips from Pippa and snaps of what she had for dinner. She's cleverly working a bit of a Goop vibe without Queen of Kale Gwynnie's condescension or insanity.

LUXE TAILORING AT POWERSCOURT

The quest for the perfect work wardrobe is never-ending. Movies set in the future always depict an enlightened society where everyone has agreed on a universal outfit - the shiny yellow one-piece, with the 'V' insignia. Sure, it may not flatter every figure, but it would cut out the agonising.

Russian-born, Dublin-based designer, Lya Solis, also knows how to cut out the agonising with her sumptuous, tailored dresses and separates that will form the basis of our work wardrobes this autumn. Solis has just opened her own boutique, showcasing her luxurious and feminine designs. BROWN THOMAS HAVE A PASSION FOR PACKHAM

The Brown Thomas new-season showcase delivered the thrilling news that our go-to luxury department store is now stocking go-to luxury brand, Jenny Packham.

This is particularly well-timed news - is it just us, or is everyone a bit sick of summer-casual? The understated thing has been overdone at this stage, and now we are ready for some seriously glam dressing up for the coming autumn nights. We want to dip into plunging necklines, twinkly sparkle and sexy lace. Now, we just need the appropriate occasion for our occasion wear.

How does showing up to a friend's wedding in this stunning Jenny Packham gold dress strike you? Over the top? Never. Just keep a low profile at the ceremony, don't make a scene when the bouquet is thrown and for god's sake, don't announce a pregnancy or any other nuptial-glory-stealing news. Left: Dress, €2,990, Jenny Packham, Brown Thomas, 88-95 Grafton St, D2, tel: (01) 605-6666, or see brownthomas.com

DEAR STYLEMMA,

Please help me find a nice red-and-black dress for socialising. Red really suits me as my hair colour is dark blonde, but I also like classic black, worn with my pearls. I am barely 5ft tall, in my early 60s and a size 8 to 10, depending on the brand. I like classic clothes and three-quarter-length sleeves.

For the lady in red, we have found some great dresses for your consideration. Dunnes have a versatile pleated wrap dress with three-quarter-length sleeves, in an abstract print of red, black and grey, for €25. Over in M&S, we spotted a brilliant optical-illusion, knee-length dress in red, with slimming black panels down the sides, for €65. Try Coast for eminently wearable jersey dresses, from €95, in a variety of colours that would seriously flatter your slim, petite figure. Or, for all-out luxury, there is a gorgeous black-and-red floral-print dress for €1,155 by Preen at Brown Thomas.
