I'd love a coloured coat this winter; something smart and tailored that will give me good shape -- any suggestions?

Bold hued coats are a huge trend this Autumn. Go for a tone that suits your colouring -- if you have a ruddy complexion avoid red, pink and orange and try cool blues and green instead which will neutralise the red in your complexion.

Irish label Fee G have a lovely royal blue mohair coat available from Kilkenny Shops at www.kilkennyshop.com for €329.95.

Autumnal orange is a key look this season with labels such as Celine and Burberry doing traffic-cone orange tailored coats. Try Marella's version from Arnotts, for €420. Red is a great coat colour as it works beautifully with most neutrals, especially camel. Try Diffusion, Clontarf, Indies military style coat for €359.

Finally, if you can wear sunny yellow, Irish designer Orla Kiely has done a gorgeous mustard wool boucle coat, €515 from Elaine Curtis, Carlow, www.elainecurtis.com.

This coat is surprisingly versatile working well with, greys, navy, tans, browns and blacks.
