Style Dilemma: Summer shoes that are comfortable
Summer shoes that are comfortable but flattering
I really want to get out of boots and wear some nice shoes that can be worn with skinny or bootleg jeans, and are comfortable for school runs and shopping. Flats make my legs look bigger so I do need a small bit of height. I welcome your advice on budget-friendly suggestions.

Finding summer footwear that is fashionable, comfortable and affordable can prove a challenge, but thankfully this season the high street is awash with styles that encompass this sartorial trinity.
First stop is River Island, whose light-brown, low-wedge gladiator sandals (1 €55) will go with everything in your wardrobe. With a 4cm heel, these are sure to become a summer staple.
Metallics are still hot this season and Zara's silver ankle-strap sandals with low block heel (2 €49.95) will prove a versatile wardrobe addition.
Dorothy Perkins' light-blue, closed-toe flatforms with contrasting white soles (3 €35) are ideal when running daily errands – and for the 'taxi of mum'.
For days when you want a bit more polish, the white 'Lexie' penny loafer with tassels from Carvela (4 €130, Brown Thomas) will anchor a pair of skinny jeans for a look that's effortlessly chic.
As a regular boot wearer, you might be interested in the 'Unconditional' cut-out black-leather boot with double buckle and white sole (5 €125) at Office.
For anyone who can afford to splurge, you need look no further than Miu Miu's glossy pink patent-leather pumps, complete with a sparkling crystal- embellished heel (6 €630) from net-a-porter.com.
