Six months ago, Alex Sheridan (19) was studying for his Leaving Cert. This weekend the talented teenager was celebrating an important photographic commission to shoot for a major fashion brand in spring 2015.

Alex was part of a three-strong creative team which won the Oasis 'Shoot | Style | Smile' competition, run in conjunction with TV3. His winning image of model Krystal Mahon, styled by Laura O'Brien, was chosen on the 'Ireland AM' show and this week, it goes up in the windows of Oasis stores around the country to mark the 20-year anniversary celebrations of the brand opening in Ireland.

But in an added bonus, Alex, Laura and Krystal are being brought back together again next year to shoot for the Oasis spring-summer press day in Dublin. It's a major coup for the three winners and fast forwards their careers in the competitive world of fashion.

Alex, from Malahide, Co Dublin, is self taught at photography and hopes to open his own photographic studio. "I've assisted a number of fashion photographers and I know this is what I want to do full time. I went to college to do a photographic course but after two weeks, I knew college wasn't for me so I left," he said.
