Red carpet wrap: Worst, Jennifer Lawrence. Best, Elizabeth Banks

We wanted to like this; we really, really did.

After all, we like Jennifer – she's smart, sassy, and not afraid to speak her mind – and we really didn't enjoy being forced to castigate her last week for hiding her svelte figure underneath an ill-fitting, baggy Christian Dior dress.

On the plus side, it seems that the 23-year-old actress did pay attention to our well-chosen words. And for that, we're grateful.

However, we didn't mean for her to take us quite so literally.

She's wearing Dior (again), but although she's added a black bodice to protect her modesty under the totally sheer gown, the look simply doesn't work.

Perhaps it's the romantic silhouette of the dress which jars with the transparent fabric; perhaps it's J-Law's strangely masculine stance. Either way, it's a no from us.

Maybe next week, as The Hunger Games continues its seemingly never-ending promotional tour, it'll be third-time lucky. We certainly hope so. Now this is how you do figure-hugging!

Her character in The Hunger Games may be renowned for her over-the-top ensembles, but Elizabeth Banks has learned a few styling tricks from playing Effie.

She looks absolutely stunning in this full-length and really quite fabulous Versace gown. The dramatic shade really works with her warm colouring, and the metallic gold detailing is oh-so-flattering.

While we would definitely prefer less helmet hair – we're sure a full can of hair spray was harmed in creating this look – we're very impressed with Elizabeth's red-hot silhouette.

It's sexy AND sassy – take note, Jennifer!
