Red carpet wrap: Best and worst dressed
Who is a style queen and who should sack the stylist?
Best dressed: Liz Hurley
There are certain things in life that we just instinctively know. Models don't eat (enough), footballers (named John Terry) play away and Liz Hurley will turn up on the red carpet in a floor-length dress accessorised with plunging décolletage and thigh-high split.
So it's come as something of a shock to see her in this stunning but (by her standards anyway) short dress at the premiere of A Single Man. The movie was directed by designer Tom Ford so there was always going to be a well-dressed audience and we're pleasantly surprised to report that Liz and her enviable figure stand out from the crowd. A lesson in grown-up glamour.
Worst dressed: Jennifer Lopez
What a difference a decade makes. At the 2000 Grammy Awards, a glamorous Jennifer Lopez wowed onlookers in that fabulous barely there Versace gown.
This time round, her audience is certainly stunned. She may be wearing the same label, but unfortunately that's where the resemblance ends. We're not fooled, Jenny from the Block -- this part-mini, part-gown confection just adds up to a whole mess.
But perhaps we're being mean. Maybe all-singing, all-dancing, all-trying-to-act JLo was trying to get in touch with her inner recessionista and update an old dress with a brand new look? It's admirable in these tough times but that's a task beyond even this multi-faceted diva. We hate to say it, but Marc, it's time to get the wallet out and buy your wife a new frock!
