Red Carpet Wrap:
Hit: Amber le Bon
Miss: Karen Gillan
Yasmin who? She may have followed in her mother's high-heeled footsteps but in case we were in any doubt, Amber Le Bon's appearance on this red carpet shows that this (not so) mini-me has well and truly stepped out of her famous parents' shadow (dad Simon is qute dashing himself)
And let's fact it, it was a tough assignment.
Even the starriest of supermodels might have been stumped – and Amber's not quite in that league just yet – just what do you wear to the Global Fashion Awards?!
We can sympathise.
After all, haven't we all done it? Stood at the open door of our bulging wardrobes and declared that we've got nothing, absolutely nothing, to wear?
In Amber's case, a fabulous white, webbed dress by Ermanno Scervino came to the rescue and clung to every elegant curve.
In a word, wow.Karen Gillan is certainly a trouper. No matter what on-screen horrors awaited her, the former Doctor Who actress always faced them head-on, usually in the tiniest of skirts. There were complaints, of course, from lots of narrow-minded nerds who preferred their hero's eye candy to be a bit more fully clothed. We really didn't understand that. But we do admire Karen for sticking to her style and continuing to show off those fabulous legs – on and off screen.
Here she is at the premiere of Thor, and while we really want to love her look – especially now that her gorgeous red hair is starting to grow back – we just can't bring ourselves to be that indulgent. We do appreciate a quirky take on red-carpet wear, but this ensemble has more than a whiff of try-too-hard swirling around it. Apart from the classic Chanel bag, of course ... and we're pretty sure that it (just like us) wishes Karen could step into the Tardis and travel back in time just far enough to choose a different outfit.
