Passion for fashion to reach fever pitch as stars compete at IFTAs
Preparations are well underway and as usual some of the country's top designers will feature on the red carpet.
Leading the way in the design stakes so far is Limerick-based Marion Murphy Cooney, who is putting together three gowns for the night.
After her successful style choice last year, RTE broadcaster Miriam O'Callaghan has opted for a Murphy Cooney again and has asked for a "colour popping" number that is also classic.
The 2012 winner of Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama, 'Love/Hate' star Denise McCormack is another attendee who will wear a Murphy Cooney creation.
Jennifer Maguire, who hosted the ceremony last time around, has requested a more daring dress.
"Jennifer is quite sultry, so she's going for something a little more vampy," Murphy Cooney said.
Availing of an opportunity to showcase her own collection with co-anchor Brendan Courtney is Sonya Lennon from RTE's 'Off The Rails', who will step out in a Lennon Courtney gown.
Highly popular Joanne Hynes is currently in discussions with one nominated actress for a bespoke gown and Dublin-based Umit Kutluk has been approached for several special commissions.
Actor Simon Delaney has been lined up to host the 2013 IFTAs. The 'Bachelor's Walk' star will take the helm of the awards ceremony on February 9 at the National Convention Centre in Dublin.
This is the third time that Delaney has assumed the role for the proceedings and no doubt he'll once again channel his inner Ricky Gervais with cheeky remarks towards members of the audience.
