No fake tan or dresses up your bum - what judges don't want at Punchestown Best Dressed Festival

Louis Walsh and celebrity stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick are judging the Best Dressed Competition this year, and it sounds tougher than an X Factor audition..

Lisa and Louis will choose the overall Best Dressed Lady at the festival on Friday, with the pair on the lookout for a "weather appropriate" and "classy" fashion-lover.

Ireland's premiere racing event kicks off on Tuesday, and some of Ireland's most stylish celebs, such as top model Roz Purcell and presenter Lorraine Keane, will be on hand to choose the best dressed each day.

On Friday, the previous winners will go head-to-head in the grand finale fashion showdown.

And there is a lot at stake, with the overall winner claiming an all-expenses-paid shopping trip to London, New York and Madrid with two of their pals.

Lisa says she and Louis will not hold back as they search for someone who has ditched the fake tan in favour of a "funky" fashion flavour.

"We want someone that can tell a story with their fashion and knows their way around a wardrobe," Lisa told the Herald.

"The weather is a huge thing in this country, so there is nothing worse than someone who is wearing a tacky dress that is up their bum when it is freezing and lashing rain outside," she explained.

"Myself and Louis get on great and we are both very honest, so it should be interesting to say the least." Starting on Tuesday, some of Ireland's most fashionable women – Andrea Roche, Roz Purcell, former Off The Rails host Pamela Flood, Xpose host Aisling O'Loughlin and former TV3 presenter Lorraine Keane – will be surveying the crowds for the finely dressed fillies.

Also among the fashion judges are presenter Maura Derrane, Ireland AM girl Sinead Desmond, Irish Independent fashion editor Bairbre Power and presenter Jenny Buckley.

Each day the judges will pick one winner – who will nab a €1,000 voucher for Coast. But Fashion Friday is by far the biggest day in the Punchestown fashion diary.

Lisa's top tips for standing out in the crowd are to keep it simple but funky, with a mix of high street and designer clobber.

"We want something sensational and different, not anybody dripping in designer. Someone who can take a classic piece and do something interesting with it," said Lisa, who is currently dividing her time between here and the UK with fashion outlet Oasis.
