Nicole Scherzinger calls in favours from Cheryl Cole’s favourite designers
With rumours that Cheryl Cole will return to the X Factor next year, judge Nicole Scherzinger emulated the Geordie beauty's signature style for the final.
The sartorial void left by Cheryl Cole's departure on prime time TV show the X Factor has been hard to fill; for the past three months viewers have been subjected to Tulisa Contostavlos' lack of good taste ( or lack of taste whatsoever, some might argue ), while Nicole Scherzinger has had to rely on her chiselled cheekbones to distract from her often not-so-family-friendly choices.
However, rumours of Cole's return to the show after disastrous ratings this season translated directly into Scherzinger's wardrobe for the show's final this weekend .
On Saturday night she called in a favour from Welshman Julien Macdonald - technically no longer a friend of Cheryl's after he publicly slammed her style , but Nicole's brief to her stylist appears to have been: 'If it was good enough for Cheryl it's good enough for me.'
She rocked up on stage to perform with act Jahmene in a silver, scale-embellished gown which looked like a hybrid of two Macdonald creations Cole sported during her time as a judge on the hit show.
On Sunday night Scherzinger's vampiric tendencies became even more apparent when it emerged that Cole's favourite couturier, Stéphane Rolland, was behind the voluminous fishtail, black strapless dress adorned with gold hardware.
Cole famously championed the then little-known Parisian designer when she endeared herself as the 'nation's sweetheart' during her judging stint on the show back in 2009, and has worn his designs on numerous high profile occasions.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but Nicole, let it be known that we've rumbled you.
