McQueen skipping Paris Fashion Week as Sarah Burton awaits twins' birth
Alexander McQueen will not show at the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
The label's creative director Sarah Burton is currently expecting twins and will not be far off her due date when the biannual event is staged between February 26 and March 9. Due to this she has decided to stay in London, rather than travel to the French capital to show the label's Fall/Winter 13 line.
McQueen is usually one of the most hotly-anticipated shows of the season. To ensure the fashion press don't miss out on a glimpse of what is on offer, WWD reports two small presentations will take place. Around 50 editors will be invited to view the collection in Paris on March 5.
The label's spokesperson has confirmed a runway show will be held for the house's Spring/Summer 14 line.
The news comes after it was announced that Peter Som has cancelled his Fall/Winter 13 presentation at New York Fashion Week. Although the designer is creating pieces for the season, they won't be shown in the usual way with his PR suggesting some kind of presentation could still take place.
Paris Fashion Week is the final leg of shows in the calendar, with labels such as Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Jean Paul Gaultier all sending models down the runway.
