IT was something borrowed and new that caught the judges eyes.
Canadian Katie Smith (25), pictured left with her 18-month-old son Liam, who has been living in Waterford for the past four years, stood out in a €60 bright orange bargain that she snapped up at TK Maxx.
And during a stroll through the shops she spotted a hat that matched at milliner Niav Riley's stall and "borrowed" it.
"I should probably buy the hat now," she said, as she was declared yesterday's best dressed lady and will now go through to Friday's €10,000 Arnott's Best Dressed Lady finale.
TV3's Lisa Cannon, one of the competition judges, said: "We're not looking for Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci. We are looking for someone who looks comfortable and wears it well."
She said the fact that the winner was wearing a €60 dress was a "nice way to champion style and shows you don't have to spend a fortune".
One of the other finalists on the day, Catherine Lundon (27), right, from Mullingar, Co Westmeath, was dressed head to toe in black.
The Dublin-based army officer mixed her €300 Manoush skirt with a €27 beret-style clip-on fascinator and top from River Island.
