Luxury is watchword for the new collection from M&S
MARKS & Spencer is spearheading a new push on affordable luxury to turn around its fortunes.
M&S today unveils its new AW14 womenswear collection which is studded with ‘simple luxe’, an exploration of chic tailoring, soft construction and subtle male sensibilities.
But the go-to items will surely be in the compelling duck-egg blue.
But M&S embraces lots of luxurious touches that shoppers aspire to, from cashmere and wool layers in powder pastels to printed silks and faux fur.
The subtle hues in sumptuous looking fabrics will turn heads, in particular, the very slimline coat from their Autograph collection.
The €149 coat with conceal buttoning can be worn with a pale grey top (€60), dipped hem skirt (€67 and ankle tie shoes (€67).
It could become this season's successor to the infamous M&S pink duster coat – that sold out in record time last September.
I suspect lovers of that DKNY, tailored silhouette will run straight to the mannish, single button, short camel coat (€135) worn with a grey suit jacket (€149), trousers (€80) and cream polo jumper (€199), all from the M&S Collection. It's the kind of look you wouldn't mind going from desk to dinner in.
If you like grey but it doesn't suit you, give it a pretty, feminine twist with the per una Speziale plaid coat (€170) in pink and grey.
It offers a sophisticated look when combined with a pale pink jacket (€135), marl grey trousers (€67) and two-tone brogues (€54).
