Kingdom ready to greet fashion royalty
COUTURE fans will get a taste of Fifth Avenue as Don O'Neill brings his latest collection home to the Kingdom. The Ballyheigue designer counts Oprah and Angelina Jolie among his A-list followers.
He will fly home to show his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection by Theia as part of 'The Kerryman/Irish Independent Fashion Show' at next month's Rose of Tralee International Festival.
The designer, who worked for major labels such as Christian Lacroix before setting up his own label Theia, said it was a huge honour.
"It is a surreal invitation to be part of an event that I always viewed with awe from the outside. To be recognised for my achievements by the organisers of the Rose of Tralee International Festival is humbling," he said.
Organisers are also holding a Best Dressed Lady Competition. Judged by Irish Independent Fashion Editor Bairbre Power and 2012 Rose of Tralee Nicola McEvoy, the winner will get a €500 shopping voucher and a mini-break to London.
Tickets for the August 18 fashion show cost €30 and are available from www.roseoftralee.ie and from the Festival Office on Denny Street in Tralee.
