DESIGNER John Rocha said his show at London Fashion Week was all about "celebrating fashion".

Fresh from a reception at Downing Street last night, Rocha said people should expect the colours associated with the season for his autumn/winter 2013 collection showcase at Somerset House.

The Dublin resident stopped to chat with friends and smoked a cigarette at the backstage door of the Courtyard show space after his arrival.

Speaking before his afternoon show, he said: "A winter forest colour - it's all about balance and harmony and celebrating fashion."

Originally from Hong Kong, Rocha, who plans to go fishing in Patagonia to relax after Fashion Week, said the event appears to be a success so far.

"I've just arrived here and from what I've seen so far it's a great one," he said.

His Irish base appears to have influences on the collection he is exhibiting today, with "diverse notions from the Wicklow countryside", according to the London Fashion Week website.

The veteran designer, who has said his key piece is a "hand crochet jacket", remarked on the significant global attention the event has attracted.

"I understand there's lots of international buyers," he said.

Other shows taking place at the same venue today include Jasper Conran and ISSA London.

Music superstar Rihanna has said she is hoping to attract "fashion gods" this weekend as her collection for fashion retailer River Island is showcased.

The pop star's spring/summer 2013 clothes and accessories will be revealed to the world for the first time today.

Earlier this week she expressed her excitement about her foray into the fashion world, and said she was looking forward to fans finally seeing her designs.

She said on Twitter: "My first fashion show!!! My designs will walk the catwalks of London Fashion Week in days!! It's gonna be MAJAH! #RihannaForRiverIsland."

She added: "Fashion gods will be in the building!! #FRONTROWLIFE #YouCantSitWithUs #RihannaForRiverIsland Can't wait for you to see it!!!"

The highly anticipated collaboration goes on sale on March 5, but today's show will give fans an idea of what to expect.

Rihanna's show tonight might be the hottest ticket in town - but Jodie Kidd is not interested.

After Jasper Conran's midday showcase, the former model said she loves backing her own pals.

When asked if she was looking forward to seeing what the music superstar had to offer, Kidd said: "Rihanna's show? Not particularly. I love to support my friends."

The statuesque blonde enjoyed Conran's runway show, which featured retro hats, clashing reds, peaches and pinks, glittery dresses and coloured tights.

"Very nice," she said. "Beautiful colours, quite graphic. I liked it. I thought it was lovely - the way he put it together."
