Jean Paul Gaultier to take part in Eurovision Song Contest
French designer Jean Paul Gaultier won't be singing, but he will be outfitting the host, Petra Mede.
Flamboyant fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier is no stranger to Eurovision: last year he dressed France's entry, singer Anggun, and the year before, transsexual singing sensation Dana International.
This year, the couturier has a new musical challenge on his hands. The enfant terrible of the fashion world will kit out the event's host Petra Mede next month. The Swedish actress and comedian will present the ceremony in Malmo, on May 18, as native group Loreen won the 2012 edition. 43-year-old Mede will also wear Gaultier's creations for the semi-finals on May 14 and 16, according to WWD.
Gaultier's love of music has been reflected through the singers he has chosen to storm the finales at his catwalk shows: Dita Von Teese and French personalities Amanda Lear and Mylene Farmer have all been bestowed the privilege. His recent collections have also been heavily inspired by Amy Winehouse and pop icons David Bowie and Madonna.
