An enraged mother took to social media to shame a designer who sent her daughter a prom dress that left her disappointed and in tears.

Photos of 18-year-old Malexa Maeweather’s unwearable custom-made prom dress were posted on Facebook by her mother Dee Lewis from New York.

Dee's post publicly named the designer who reportedly charged $300 for the handmade dress that left her daughter devastated.

“R u serious.. was I wrong for wanting my DEPOSIT BACK?” she wrote.

The pictures of the dress have now been shared over 3,000 times and it shows the transparent long-sleeved white and fluffy dress from all angles.

The seams of the dress are very visible and the fabric appears to be barely sewn together.

In an interview with Yahoo Style Dee said, “My daughter was devastated and crying when she saw this dress”.

Her daughter had seen a similar dress on Instagram and since it was sold out, she sent the pictures to the designer to recreate it.

“For a $100 deposit, the designer told my daughter that she would make her something nice” and that she would “play around with the design,” Lewis told Yahoo Style, “Malexa didn't know anything about what the dress would look like.”

They were also unable to obtain a refund.

“She didn’t offer any reimbursement as a professional courtesy,” Lewis said.

A family friend however was able to save the day and give Maeweather a gown she had worn the previous year.
