'I can't afford designer dresses' says Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson borrows her red carpet gowns because they’re too expensive.
The Almost Famous actress says there are much more important things for her to spend her money on, mainly her children’s education.
She has nine-year-old son Ryder Russell Robinson, with first husband Chris Robinson, and two-year-old Bingham Hawn Bellamy, with fiancé Matt Bellamy.
“People think we own all these dresses, but we borrow them! I can’t afford to buy that stuff. There are certain things I splurge on, but it’s very rare, especially when you have two kids and school tuition.
“I’m not a big high-end fashion shopper. I wish I could but the truth is things are just so expensive. Before Isabel Marant was a million dollars and famous, I used to go to her store in Paris and go crazy, it was so affordable,” she recounted to the December issue of America's Harper’s Bazaar.
Instead of worrying herself with expensive dresses, Kate says a big part of her life is taken up by exercise.
The 34-year-old actress insists having an active lifestyle is not unattainable.
“It really is a vital part of my day in terms of energy. And I mean just by putting a sports bra on. Then maybe you’ll do something! Even if it’s a few squats in the backyard and back to the couch,” she laughed.
Kate, who was raised by mother Goldie Hawn and her boyfriend Kurt Russell, chose to pursue an acting career after graduating from high school, even though she was accepted to New York University.
The actress has most recently enjoyed a recurring role on Glee as Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) dance teacher, and admits she couldn’t be happier.
"I'm loving becoming an adult," she gushed.
