How to wear

pretty pastels

2014's colour palette sees pastels reign supreme as a key story for SS14. Less saccharine sweet and more cool and sophisticated, pastels for the new season have an icy air to them. Ashish, David Koma, Temperley, Burberry Prorsum and House of Holland all served as the perfect example of how soft hues will be your go-to colour as temperatures begin to rise.

Candy coloured shades can add a touch of sweet innocence to an otherwise very grown up look. But this year, pretty pinks, lemons, lilacs and duck egg blues on clean lines and defined silhouettes translate into a look that's far from sickly sweet.

Even if you're not the girly-girl type, you can get in on the action with pale shades of mint and sea foam green as a welcome alternative to the powder pinks and mellow yellows. Toughen up the look with some metallics and inject some edge with jewelled tones and texture, such as leather or jacquard. Go for a sporty vibe and colour block your pastels for a look that's instantly uplifting.
