Gwyneth Paltrow leaves Stella McCartney 'cringing' with gushing tribute
Gwyneth Paltrow has left her “sister” Stella McCartney “cringing” after pouring praise on her both personally and professionally.
Speaking as they launched their collaboration on a fashion project, Paltrow said that she shared a lot of values with her best friend who had provided her with a “life raft” in a foreign country.
She has described her as an "insanely" talented designer who makes "perfect" things.
In a “journal” detailing the collaboration on her website Paltrow wrote: “Sometimes in life you get a girlfriend who becomes like a sister. Someone who really sees you.
“Who is as honest with you as they are loving. Who shares a similar world view, who has similar values. Who is a bit of a life raft when you live in a country that you lovingly adopt, but is not your own.
“Who also happens to be hilarious and a bit naughty and is constantly trying to get the balance of everything right, just like you are. Who is also one of your favourite designers ever, who has a ruthless eye and makes perfect, perfect things.
“Stella is that girl and so much more. I convinced her to do a collaboration, a very mini capsule collection of some beautiful, covetable things.”
She had spoken in similar terms at the English Garden Party launch for their capsule collection, a star studded affair attended by Cameron Diaz and Paul McCartney, Stella’s father.
During the day Paltrow described her friend as “the most insanely amazing designer”, and McCartney admitted of the praise: “"I'm cringing.”
The journal, which was also sent out as a promotional email for the Stella McCartney x goop range, also includes a video of the day which culminates in the pair kissing.
