Gaga's gone all Rocha 'n' roll
IT was only a matter of time before the innovative designs of Simone Rocha caught the eye of Lady Gaga.
And when the world's most influential style icon wears your clothes, it puts you in the spotlight.
The pop phenomenon stepped out in London this week wearing a €1,230 outfit made up of two pieces from the Irish designer's critically acclaimed spring-summer 2012 collection.
Gaga's style approval has the power to fast-track young designers to the top, and her appreciation of Simone's white lace dress made news at 'Vogue' magazine's online news service.
"It's always a compliment when somebody chooses to wear my designs," John Rocha's daughter said after hearing the news in Paris.
"After showing in London I was told she would be interested in pieces from the collection and I'm delighted she chose some pieces for her time in London. I believe my clothes should be integrated into someone's personal style," the 26-year-old said.
Ms Rocha is the latest young Irish designer to catch the eye of Gaga and her stylist. They have commissioned sculptural leather pieces from Una Burke from Roscommon. And Gaga wore a wedding dress by Sorcha O Raghallaigh (26) from Co Offaly on 'The Graham Norton' show.
