Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom said she didn't know she was "supposed" to keep the fact that she bought her Golden Globes dress a secret.

The tv star revealed her excitement at wearing her slinky black Gucci dress to last year's Emmy Awards, paying $3,500 for the gown. In a viral red carpet interview, she said: "I bought this dress because Gucci is not lending me a dress."

"I said in an interview before, sometimes it's hard to get places to lend me dresses because I'm not like a size zero," she added.

It was a succinct summation of her time in Hollywood - Rachel is still considered a rising star by general standards, but is well paid enough that she can fork out a couple thousand dollars for a gown for a label that didn't want to loan her a gown, which she brilliantly elaborated on in a new interview with Allure.

She told the magazine: "Because unbeknownst to me at the time, which I know more now, you don’t admit to buying dresses - because it means no one would loan a dress, right?

"People who are earning the most money are supposed to not pay for their dresses, and that’s capitalism. People are rewarded for being already rewarded."

Bloom also spoke of her frustration at the availability of size inclusive clothing and said designers "just have to adapt".

"When you have curves or a different body type, suddenly the canvas gets bumpy, and so you have to adapt. For me, that would sound fascinating if I were designing clothes," she said.
