What to expect from Irish designer Danielle Romeril's much talked about LFW show
London Fashion Week is showcasing SS16 collections from a number of top Irish designers with catwalk shows and installations across the capital.
Paul Costelloe kicks off Friday with Simone Rocha on Saturday and Sunday is D-Day for Dublin-born designer, Danielle Romeril who shows as part of the NEWGEN programme.
A graduate of Limerick School of Art & Design, Danielle is showing for the fourth season in a row and has secured a highly coveted, high vis weekend time slot in the show schedule.
Sponsored by Topshop, NEWGEN singles out the best emerging talents and supports their ambitions to build global, high end fashion brands of the future.
Danielle is certainly keeping good company because former NEWGEN winners have included no less than Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, J.W. Anderson, Simone Rocha, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood and Roksanda Ilincic.
The 62nd London Fashion Week sees 77 brands showcase their SS16 collections between September 18-22.
Danielle Romeril has secured a two hour slot at the British Fashion Council Presentation space at the Institute of Contemporary Arts on Sunday afternoon when the serious A-listers and celebrity frow are out en-masse for the hot-ticket Topshop show and then go on a LFW show safari.
"It's great to have such an excellent platform to bring your vision to the world, to be on schedule during London Fashion Week and having the NEWGEN seal of approval makes people sit up and take notice of what you are doing," Danielle told the Irish Independent when we visited her in Hackney before the show and to see her acclaimed AW15 collection featuring leather fringing, quilting, capes and gorgeous Scottish tartans. In Ireland, it is stocked exclusively at Clodagh Shorten's 'Samui' boutique in Cork.
