A €29,000 red crocodile-skin handbag has gone on sale in Brown Thomas just in time to fill one lucky woman's Christmas stocking.

The exclusive Prada Inside designer bag is one of a limited edition of only three - though other versions of the bag have been spotted on the arms of Hollywood A-listers Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller.

Brown Thomas Fashion Director, Shelly Corkery, says that they are confident the bag will be snapped up during the festive season.

The exotic accessory is part of The Marvel Room collection, which houses a selection of limited-edition, bespoke gifts in the run up to Christmas.

"We are finding that customers have an excellent understanding of luxury and want to invest in pieces that will wear well and that will last a lifetime. This is a statement piece," explains Ms Corkery. "In the past, customers might have bought several nice pieces, perhaps a few different designer bags, but these days, discerning shoppers covet just one really special item.

"People have changed since the Celtic Tiger. They see purchases like this as an investment piece that will bring joy for years to come."

Describing the type of customer to purchase the uber- luxury gift, she said they are often purchased by partners who want to spoil the lady in their life.

"Women are great at picking out what they love and they sort of lead the way where gifts are concerned. It's nice to be sent in the right direction."

In addition to the Prada bag, customers can purchase a Céline Mini Luggage Bag for €25,000, a Loewe Small Puzzle Bag for €1,800 and Loewe Coin Purses for €295.

But Ms Corkery is keen to point out that The Marvel Room caters for a wide range of tastes and price brackets.

"Not all the gifts in The Marvel Room are high-end price points. There is something for everyone," she said.

A Smythson Diary with personalised monogram comes at €200, a Kate Spade Journal can be purchased for €35 and a collection of Rae Feather cashmere scarves are priced at €395 each. A monogram service is available for a personalised touch.

A special Edge Only Necklace by former 2FM DJ and now highly regarded jewellery designer, Jenny Huston, is selling at €145.

And for the men, an iPaint iPhone Cover comes at €22, a Pirelli Calendar Book is €50, Powerstays Collar Stays are €80 and The Rolling Stones book can be purchased for €125.

Children's gifts include a Stella McCartney Babygro at €50, a Baghera Rider for €149, Lick the Spoon Chocolate Decorations for €13 and a Knot & Bow Confetti Bomb at €10.
