PRESENTER Laura Whitmore made the jump from TV to the catwalk yesterday as she took part in one of the opening shows of London Fashion Week.

The Bray native took to the runway to showcase the autumn/winter 2015 collection from the Bora Asku label.

She even landed the prestigious role of closing the catwalk show.

The DCU graduate is a firm favourite on best-dressed lists both here and in the UK and is renowned for her understated style.

Yesterday, however, saw her put her best fashion foot forward in a very different setting.

Sporting some edgy looks, Laura was clad in a black mini-dress for the final walk. In a more low-key look she sported a simple denim shirt and some oversized hairclips.

She did have the benefit of some practice under her belt, however, as she was one of a host of celebs who took part in Naomi Campbell's famous fashion fundraiser on the eve of London Fashion Week.

This year's Fashion For Relief show, which took place at Somerset House, saw Laura joined by Pixie Lott and Sarah Ferguson on stage.

Laura's catwalk debut comes as she announced she would be departing her slot on MTV News after seven years with the show.

She hinted at some new projects, but it remains to be seen if her skill on the catwalk will see a more permanent move to the world of fashion for the 29-year-old.

London Fashion Week will continue for four more days, and over the course of the week 78 designers will showcase their work.

The event, which is one of four around the globe, is known for the exposure it gives to Irish talent.

Designer Paul Costelloe showcased his new collection yesterday to crowds of buyers and fashion lovers at the Waldorf Hilton hotel.

Costelloe is a firm favourite among Irish women, though he has landed himself in hot water on occasion for criticising their sense of style.

Today will see Orla Kiely, the Irish designer who is based in London, show off her new collection.

Another Irish style favourite, Simone Rocha, is due to show at 6pm this evening.

The Dubliner, who is the daughter of legendary designer John Rocha, has been a favourite with critics since she first took part in London Fashion Week in 2010.
