Twitter is on fire today about Kim Kardashian’s second pregnancy and Bruce Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover in which he introduces us to Caitlyn, his new female identity.
However, watch the activity switch to Bruce’s daughters, teen sensations, Kendall Jenner (19) and Kylie (17) as they launch their first fashion collaboration with high street brand TOPSHOP on Wednesday.
KENDALL + KYLIE collection doesn’t reinvent the fashion wheel and the TV celebrities have been inspired by vintage shapes, tops with slogans and Hawaiian-style floral prints for their 15 piece summer capsule collection which sells from €46 up to €122.
With over 20million twitter followers between them, the Jenner sisters command the power to drive immense retail traffic. In Ireland, the capsule collection will only be available to buy at TOPSHOP’s store at St Stephen’s Green, Dublin but it is also available on the TOPSHOP.COM website.
Fans are rushing to get details of the contemporary capsule summer wardrobe, zooming in on four images released of the sisters posing in L.A.
Granted, it is Kendall, the professional model, who does most of the posing and the accompanying video (see it here) captures her wearing the pieces and her impossibly long legs that have made her a favourite on the Paris catwalks.
In the four posed shots released today by TOPSHOP, Kendall models two outfits. In one, she poses in a white, square necked lace top (€53), guaranteed to be a sell out, accessorised with distressed denim shorts (€49) from the collection and tan clogs from TOPSHOP’s mainline collection.
Kendall also poses in a Hawaiian print playsuit (€68) – absolutely destined to be a surefire sell out, but the pink and green floral print on a black background also features in pretty shorts (€46), matching top , €53 and a maxi dress (€84).
The sisters who shot to fame on the Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality show on the E! network posed for one look together, with Kendall wearing a cross front, scalloped edged white lace top with tie (€52) and and floral shorts (€46) and, while you can’t see too much of Kylie’s grey jersey (with the slogan (‘When in doubt Vacation’, €53) you can certainly see her valuable arm candy of eight Cartier ‘Love’ bracelets worth an estimated €60k and screwed into position on her arm.
Looking through the 15 pieces, some are pretty, some look like something their mum, Kris might have worn in the 70s, and some look like European buys from a few summer’s ago like the sheer, black chiffon trousers with hotpant lining (€61).
Given that they lived their childhood in a Californian mansion decorated almost solely in black and white, the same colours that their mother Kris always wears, it was, perhaps, inevitable that the sisters might show a leaning towards including lots of black and white in their collection.
The most appealing and attractive piece in the collection is the sister's white duster coat which has not been priced on the TOPSHOP publicity site. In sharp contrast, there's a busy-looking pink and white floral jumpsuit which is slated to cost €122 and appears to be the most expensive piece from the KENDALL + KYLIE collection.
