From pageant princess to high fashion for Miss Ireland Emma Waldron in New York
Former Miss Ireland Emma Waldron moved to New York only a month ago, but she landed a place on the catwalk for the city's fashion week.
The 25-year-old model represented Ply Apparel, a high-end plus-size label, at the Lincoln Centre show.
"It was amazing," she said. "You hope, but I didn't expect to be booked so soon. I'm only here a month."
Emma wasn't fazed by one of the biggest fashion events in the world.
"It wasn't nerve-wracking. You go in so early and have your make-up done. It's so relaxed, so by the time you're going to walk you're just focused on the job," she said.
"There's such a great buzz around the place - everyone is travelling in from all over. It's just a hub of energy."
Landing a spot on the catwalk is quite the achievement, but the former teacher will have to wait for a chance to let her hair down.
"You go for a salad and then go back to work," she said.
