Exclusive: Meet the Irish blogger living the fashion dream working for Olivia Palermo
Meet the Irish blogger handpicked by style icon Olivia Palermo to help guide her through Fashion Month.
Kerry blogger Erika Fox has equal parts talent, drive and ambition, and now she has been snapped up to work for the fashion powerhouse.
With her trademark red hair, alabaster skin and classically feminine sense of style, she is the poster woman for the new generation of Irish creatives.
With two college degrees under her belt, Erika (22) has built up an impressive CV to date, having already worked with The Hills star Whitney Port and has been featured in international style bibles Teen Vogue, The Sunday Times STYLE and W Magazine.
Having recently hot footed it to the City That Never Sleeps for the third year in a row, Erika managed to land the opportunity of every fashion-obsessed twenty-something-year-old: working under the style maven that is Olivia Palermo.
Speaking to Independent Style, she said: "I'm working with Olivia all throughout Fashion Month. I worked very closely with the team here in New York during Fashion Week and will be involved with the website throughout London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks too. My role during NYFW was to attend certain shows and events on behalf of her website, to shoot her personal style looks throughout the week (which I still can't believe happened!) and I also wrote some articles for www.oliviapalermo.com.
"Olivia just couldn't have been more lovely. Her style is out of this world and she even complimented my own outfits on a few occasions too," she added.Let Olivia Palermo and Chrissy Teigen show you how to work a white shirt
Fox is clearly determined to make it to the top and took the initiative of contacting Palermo's team directly about the any job opportunities.
"I emailed Olivia's team directly this time, asking if there were currently any job vacancies," she explained. "I'm a HUGE fan! Luckily, they were just in the process of looking for a Fashion Month assistant so I sent over my CV and details. I spoke with the team for about six weeks, and afterwards, to my delight, they offered me to the job! I couldn't believe it.
"This industry definitely revolves around hard work, the right timing and a little bit of luck."
The rising star said that the atmosphere in New York during Fashion Week was surreal. "It was undoubtedly one of the busiest and most surreal weeks I've had in a while," she said.
"I got the opportunity to see some amazing shows like Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera and Clover Canyon, and of course, the street style was an experience in itself too. New Yorkers have such a unique and classic style. Working with Olivia throughout the week really allowed me to see Fashion Week from a different perspective and I honestly learned more that I ever could have imagined. I'm already looking forward to February!"
