Cork woman Alex Butler wins €10k Best Dressed Lady prize at the Galway Races
Cork woman Alex Butler has been named Best Dressed Lady at the Galway Races.
Butler, from Midleton, nabbed the coveted prize on Ladies Day at the Galway Races, nabbing a €10,000 prize in the process.
It was her red midi length dress by Teria Yabar purchased from a Fermoy boutique, matching headpiece by Jennifer Wrynne and nude Louboutin heels (a gift from her boyfriend) that wowed the judging panel.
This year's competition was sponsored by the Kilkenny Group and judges included Irish Independent Fashion Editor Bairbre Power, RTE presenter Maura Derrane, Image Magazine Editor-in-Chief Melanie Morris and owner of the Catwalk Model Agency Mandy Maher.
Judges deliberated at the Kilkenny Marquee after hours of analysing Ireland's best dressed racing revellers vying for a chance at one of the most prestigious prizes on the Irish social calendar.
10 finalists were whittled down early in the afternoon before Ms Butler was crowned winner soon after.
Next up on the winners table was milliner Mary White from Claremorris, Co Mayo, wearing a bespoke outfit by Laura Jayne Halton, who took home the Best Irish Design prize.
Yorkshire native Danielle Gingell scooped the Best Hat prize in a cream and tulle headpiece by American milliner Arturo Rios.
Both prizes arevalued at €2,500 and €4,000 respectively.
The Best Dressed Lady prize consists of a shopping spree at Kilkenny store, bespoke Waterford Crystal, a luxurious staycation from Ireland's Blueblook, some new wardrobe additions courtesy of Aideen Bodkin, a year's worth of hair treatments at Peter Mark, jewellery by Maureen Lynch and a Lancôme cosmetics hamper from University Pharmacy Galway.
