Britney Spears launches lingerie collection…...in a library

The singer presented her inaugural collection in New York's Public Library.

Britney Spears announced her collaboration with CHANGE Lingerie over the summer and the fashion press waited with bated breath to see if she would deliver.

According to writer and self confessed Britney fanatic John Ersing, the ‘Intimate Britney Spears’ preview of 15 looks did not disappoint.

Before the show started, the singer came over the intercom to whisper, “I am an art, paint me in pastels...The softest blush of roses, playing peek-a-boo on sheer nylon. Paint me satin and embroider me with mother-of-pearl.”

The models took to the white carpeted stage in delicate designs named after flowers; Buttercup, Calla, Ambrosia, Begonia, Amaryllis, and Camellia.

The collection of separates were predominantly in champagne, fuchsia, dove grey and black, with fiery red camisoles and brassieres upping the ante.

The pieces were executed in satin, silk, lace and some models also sported luxurious kimonos, suspender belts and stockings.

The Intimate Britney Spears also offers more casual sleepwear and loungewear including sweatpants and t-shirts.

Britney herself took to the stage in a blood orange jumpsuit and told the assembled audience that she had been working on the line for some time:

"I want to thank the beautiful models today and all of you for coming. This is something that I've been working on for two-and-a-half years. I'm really, really passionate about this, and I hope you all enjoyed it."

According to Ersing, her speech lasted approximately 15 seconds.
