Aoibheann McMonagle scoops €10k prize at Ladies Day at the Dublin Horse Show
The crowds gathered early at the band lawn of the RDS for Ladies Day and they erupted into cheers when Aoibheann McMonagle was announced as the winner.
The primary school teacher (32) from Falcarragh, Donegal is a regular at the Dublin Horse Show but this is the first time she has walked away with the top prize.
"I've done a few Ladies Days. I come every year to the RDS, it's one of my favourite social events. I'm absolutely shocked. I was standing on the outskirts there and then I heard my name being called out. Literally my jaw dropped," she said.
Aoibheann's flamenco-inspired look featured a Marc Jacobs skirt, a white shirt from Karen Millen, a red hat by milliner Ashleigh Myles and shoes from Aldo.
"I won Most Colourful at the RDS in 2014. I seem to win whenever I have colour on. I was at the Galway Races as well so it's been a brilliant week," she said.
Aoibheann reckons the trick to winning is all about your attitude.
"I think confidence really helps, if they see you smiling and being happy," she told Independent.ie.
The Falcarragh fashionista was presented with a €10,000 voucher from Dundrum Town Centre.
Other winners on Ladies Day were Martina O'Donovan from Co. Galway for Elegance With Attitude, Everton Tadeu Da Silva from Brazil for Best Dressed Man and Kaela Keegan from Co. Longford for Most Creative Hat.
