Fashion knowledge: how to do it all - the right way
Less is more
Always remember that less is more. Wear your clothes, rather than letting them wear you. It's better to choose one fabulous statement piece and build your look around it, rather than wear all your favourites at the same time.
Dress for the occasion
Dressing appropriately for an occasion is so important to make you feel comfortable and confident. Formal evening wear is not suitable for lunch, and sky-high heels are not ideal for a Sunday stroll!
There are no set rules in fashion – it's all about freedom, exploration, creativity and individuality. Always adapt your own ideas to seasonal trends, and stretch your imagination to create your own personal style, and, above all, have fun!
Playing with proportions
There is a strong focus on volume and proportion right now. Full, skater-style skirts look great balanced with a tailored top, while hemlines are longer. I have really embraced this chic, new longer length, which is so feminine and perfect for this time of year.
Add energy to an outfit with boldly hued accessories. An all-black look is instantly updated with a pop of colour from a bag or shoes. This season, fashion's biggest influence is art, with the collections from Prada, Celine and Chanel filled with broad brushstrokes, lyrical swirls and graffiti.
The rise of the flat
Flat shoes are so on trend and can be worn everywhere. Valentino's pointy-toe pumps, kitten heels from Saint Laurent, platforms from Marni and the coveted Celine skater shoes . . . they all are the perfect transitional footwear choice.
A coat draped over your shoulders is the ultimate in power dressing – simply add confidence! This season's must-have cover-up, the bomber jacket, worn over a cocktail dress, lends a cool edge to evening wear.
