These days, designers are judged in equal measure for how 'woke' they are, in addition to their creative talents.

Dior hit the ground running with their cult 'We Should All Be Feminists' t-shirts and Prabal Gurung's emotional finale to his AW17 collection with a slew of feminist t-shirts. Now, Tom Ford has joined the fold, supporting the #MeToo movement in his own colourful way - with a range of purple metallic embellished chain bags, with the phrase "Pussy Power" emblazoned on them.

In the past, Ford has been accused of objectifying women in his campaigns, but he described himself as an "equal opportunity objectifier", saying in 2015, "I'm just as happy to objectify men".

"There’s nothing stronger and more powerful than a beautiful woman. I don’t think expressing what nature intended you to be is anything but powerful," he told The Guardian.

"My women are not sitting there waiting for someone, they’re taking charge. Doesn't matter whether they’re naked, they’re powerful, they’re smart, and you’re not going to get them if they don’t want you."

Over the course of the last 12 months, after Hollywood's damning near-daily expose of sexual assault of and exploitation at its highest levels, it wasn't long before the fashion industry followed.

Photographers Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber and Mario Testino have all been accused of sexual misconduct were made against them. Paul Marciano, the co-founder of Guess, which traditionally throws a party during Fashion Week, was accused of sexual harassment by supermodel Kate Upton on Wednesday.

Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife Georgina Chapman's Marchesa range made the wise decision to show at New York Fashion Week this season and it's unlikely a new collection will be shown at all this year.
